Definitions for the ICP supply metrics
All data comes from official Internet Computer APIs, validated and stored as a snapshot rather than a live feed. If the snapshot is more than 24 hours old, opening the page starts a new fetch, so reload in a minute or two for the newest data. The site is served onchain from a canister.
- STATS
- All values cover the selected period, 24h, 7d or 30d, and are compared against the 30-day average. Every figure in this block is an estimate and every line says so, the ledger settles supply exactly, but not over a window this short. The measured totals are in the table below.
- AVG PRICE
- Average ICP price over the period. No source publishes ICP in dollars over time, so the official ICP/XDR series is converted at the dollar per XDR rate of this refresh.ESTIMATED · avg = Σ(ICP/XDR at each grid point × USD per XDR) ÷ points — 24 hourly points, or 7 and 30 daily ones
- BURNED
- The cycles destroyed over the period, denominated in ICP at the official ICP/XDR rate, plus the transaction fees the ledger burned outright. Cycles are consumed continuously as canisters run, whereas the ICP funding them is converted in a small number of large transactions that a short window may or may not capture. This row reflects real consumption rather than the timing of those conversions. The BURNED row further down records ICP leaving supply at the moment of conversion.burn = Σ(cycle burn rate × seconds ÷ ICP/XDR) + fees burned over the same window
- MINT EST
- Estimated ICP created over the period. Rewards are issued in lumps, node providers are paid once a month, so a real seven-day total would be either nothing or a whole month's worth, depending only on where the week fell. Instead the last complete calendar month is averaged over its own days and scaled to the period shown, which is why the row says EST. It counts maturity as governance grants it, and maturity becomes ICP only when a neuron spawns it, so this runs ahead of the supply the chain actually gained.ESTIMATED · mint = (last full month's rewards ÷ that month's days) × days shown
- RATIO
- Minting against burning, as a multiple. Negative when minting leads, positive when burning leads. Both sides are estimates of different quantities, rewards issued against what the network cost to run, so this compares issuance with demand, and the gap between them is not the period's supply change.ratio = larger side ÷ smaller side, negative when minting leads
- YEAR TO DATE
- Percentages are measured against total supply on 1 January. The baseline is read once a year and held, so it is the same denominator all year.
- INFLATION
- How much total supply increased since 1 January. Burns and node-provider rewards are already inside this number, because it is a difference between two supply readings and nothing else.growth = total supply now − total supply on 1 Jan
- REWARDS
- How much stakers and node providers earned since 1 January. Higher than inflation because maturity counts when it is granted, not when it becomes ICP, the two rows are never added together.rewards = stakers + nodes
- Stakers
- Voting rewards granted to stakers as maturity since 1 January, summed from the governance reward events of each day. Shown as ICP one to one for representation only, and counted when granted, so some may already be converted and some may never be.stakers = Σ governance reward events since 1 Jan
- Nodes
- Node-provider rewards paid in ICP since 1 January. Minted directly, so unlike the stakers leg this one is already inside the inflation figure above.nodes = Σ node-provider payments since 1 Jan
- SUPPLY
- Percentages are measured against total supply. Only LIQUID and STAKED are parts of it; every other row is a ratio against it, so the column does not add up to 100 and is not meant to.
- TOTAL
- Total supply: all ICP minted since genesis, less all ICP burned. Liquid and staked add up to it exactly; every other row is measured against it, not part of it.read from the ledger, not derived
- LIQUID
- All ICP that is not locked. It includes stake in neurons that have finished dissolving and have not been disbursed, which is claimable at any moment, so dashboards that count those neurons as staked report a higher staking rate than this one.liquid = total − staked
- STAKED
- ICP locked in neurons and earning voting rewards. Neurons that have finished dissolving are not counted here: nothing locks them, so they are liquid.staked = unlocking + locked
- Unlocking
- Stake in dissolving neurons, still locked and still earning until the dissolve delay ends. Reported by dissolve-delay bracket, and the brackets are summed.unlocking = Σ dissolving-neuron brackets
- Locked
- Stake in neurons that are not dissolving. The dissolve delay is not counting down, so it stays locked until the owner starts it.locked = Σ non-dissolving brackets
- REWARDS
- Maturity earned by stakers for voting and not yet converted. It is measured as ICP one for one, but it is not ICP and is not part of total supply. It becomes ICP only when spawned, and the amount can change when it is.rewards = unlocked + staked maturity, the two bracket rows below split that staked part
- Unlocked
- Maturity that is not staked, in neurons of any state. It can be spawned or disbursed at any time, which is what makes it unlocked.reported as one governance total
- Unlocking
- Maturity that has been staked, in neurons that are dissolving.Σ dissolving-neuron maturity brackets
- Locked
- Maturity that has been staked, in neurons that are not dissolving.Σ non-dissolving maturity brackets
- MINTED
- All ICP created since genesis: maturity that stakers have converted, plus rewards paid to node providers. No source publishes it, and none is needed, supply only moves by minting and burning, so today's supply plus everything ever burned, less what existed at genesis, is what was minted. This is measured. MINT EST in the stats above is not the same figure over a shorter period: it counts rewards as they are granted, and only what has been spawned reaches this row.minted = total + burned − 469'213'710.53 at genesis
- Stakers
- ICP that stakers converted from maturity. It is a residual, not a measurement: everything minted that did not go to node providers is attributed here.stakers = minted − nodes
- Nodes
- Rewards paid to node providers, minted directly as ICP rather than granted as maturity.read from the node-provider payment series
- BURNED
- All ICP destroyed since genesis, through transaction fees and conversion to cycles. It is already out of total supply, so it is a ratio against today's supply rather than a slice of it. This is destruction, measured on the ledger; the BURNED figure in STATS above estimates what the network consumed instead, and the two do not add up to each other.burned = fees + cycles
- Fees
- Every transaction fee paid on the ledger, in ICP. A tenth of a millicent per transfer, so it accumulates slowly.running ledger total since genesis
- Cycles
- ICP converted to cycles for computation and storage, counted as the ICP destroyed at the moment of conversion. Cycles consumed by canisters later are a different quantity and are not this row.running ledger total since genesis
